# Overview
This document defines the communication protocol between the GrandShow software and the command sender for playback control. The protocols may vary depending on the specific series of GrandShow (EE/CE).
# Terminology
Terms | Descriptions |

Colorlight platform | Provides services for controlling Colorlight devices. This platform and the controlled devices should share the same LAN. |
Multimedia server | The control device specially developed for UHD media playback. |
GrandShow EE | The Enterprise version of GrandShow software preinstalled in the multimedia server. |
GrandShow CE | The Classic version of GrandShow software preinstalled in the multimedia server. |
Scene | In GrandShow CE, “Scene” refers to a collection of programs, while in GrandShow CE, it refers to the windows of the same column in “Program” area. |
Screen | Used for displaying the video signal output. Usually connected to the sender, and also can be connected directly to the multimedia server. |
Window | The minimum playback unit in GrandShow EE. In "Program" area of the software interface, the windows are arranged in rows. |
HDR | High Dynamic Range technology. Used for improve the contrast ratio and color range of the image and the video. |
Push streaming | Refers to the procedure of transmitting the window image or image in the stage area to multimedia server or other terminal devices. |
Magic packet | This is used to configure the description of the protocol for booting up the multimedia server. For more details, please refer to FAQ. |
